MUMS [ˈmɔmˀs] bowls are produced in Denmark and are made of bioplastic with added wood fibres – a food grade material with a smaller CO2 footprint than purely fossil-based plastics. MUMS is the Danish term for YUMMY, and it’s often used for things with a pleasant appearance, scent and feel – and that describes the MUMS [ˈmɔmˀs] series perfectly! The series consists of cups, plates and bowls in four different colourways. Wood scent – a series with a clear conscience. MUMS [ˈmɔmˀs] children’s tableware is designed and produced in Denmark. The series consists of children’s bowls, plates and cups, designed for families who appreciate simplicity at the dining table, but who also welcome a playful touch. What does the bioplastic in MUMS [ˈmɔmˀs] consist of? The bioplastic is made from bio-based raw materials, i.e. plant parts. Corn has been used for MUMS [ˈmɔmˀs]. Why is wood fibre added to MUMS [ˈmɔmˀs]? Our bioplastic comes with all the versatility of plastic, and the addition of wood fibres reduces the amount of plastic in the products. This results in a lower CO2 footprint compared to a pure bioplastic product or a petrochemical plastic product based on fossil fuels such as oil or gas. Are new trees felled in order to add wood fibres to MUMS [ˈmɔmˀs]? No, they are not. The wood fibres used are a byproduct from wood production. Is the bioplastic in MUMS [ˈmɔmˀs] CO2-neutral? No, but the bioplastic itself does not emit more CO2 through incineration than what the plants have absorbed during cultivation. Compared to a fossil-based plastic material, bioplastics have a significantly lower impact on the atmosphere. The complex CO2 accounts also include energy for production and transport, which of course causes pollution, but this also applies to plastic made from oil or natural gas. How do I dispose of MUMS [ˈmɔmˀs] after use (for example, due to wear and tear or changed needs)? The MUMS [ˈmɔmˀs] series must be sorted as hard plastic for recycling. Recommended age: 4 months+
